Devlog #4 — Setting the Scene

We’ll be straight with you: this one’s less “here’s how it works” and more “here’s what it looks like.” We’re running a little behind where we wanted to be — and it’s because we spent the last stretch building two things that had to exist before anyone could play: the place it all happens in, and the screen you’ll play it on. Worth it. Here’s what came out of it.

Where it all happens

Game takes place mostly at the house. That’s the rule — every shift, every doorbell, every client is right here at home. So the house can’t just be a backdrop. It has to feel like a real home with a secret living in it.

It’s warm and lived-in. There’s a couch that’s seen some things. A front door you’ll get to know very well. We wanted the kind of place that looks perfectly ordinary to anyone glancing in through the window — because ordinary is exactly what makes everything that happens inside land the way it does.

The environment design is done, and we’re honestly a little in love with it.

The screen you’ll play it on

Now the part that’s still moving: the interface.

This is where everything from the last few devlogs finally lands on one screen — your hand of cards, the fetish meters filling, the client at the door and what he’s into, and the temptation creeping toward the edge. The whole job of designing it is making all of that readable at a glance, so the tension comes from your choices and not from hunting around for the information.

It will still take some time. We’re still pushing things around, trying layouts, cutting whatever’s noisy. But it’s the last big piece standing between you and a controller in your hands.

So where does that leave us

The cards work. The shop’s taking shape. And now they’ve got a place to live and a face to wear.

Which is the quiet way of saying we’re closer to the thing.

One more thing — Summer Sale 🌞

While you’re here: it’s the Steam Summer Sale, and our other game, My Ghost Roommate, is 20% off right now. Completely different vibe — a short, heartfelt visual novel about a lonely ghost and the apartment she can’t bring herself to leave. If you’re waiting on Risky Hustle and want something to play in the meantime, that’s the one.
